Gojek, the ride-hailing giant is currently working to raise $2 billion in its ongoing series F fundraiser before the year-end. The company planned it by increasing capital raising in order to continue expansion into mobile payments and food delivery. Incepted in the year 2015, Gojek debuted its app for booking motorbike taxis in Jakarta. Later, it evolved as the multi-service giant by providing various services such as food delivery services, taxi-hailing services, and other commercial services in a single app.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While emerging as a super app in Indonesia, it even handled almost $1.5 billion of transactions outside this country. This level of achievement is due to the penetration of its services into the rest of Southeast Asia. Financed by a few prodigious companies like Google and Tencent Holdings Ltd., in early 2019, Gojek proliferated into an international business after setting up shops in countries like Singapore and Vietnam. Though it managed to raise $1 billion, it is still in the hunt for capital. Recently, Amazon is said to be in talks to join the current funding round to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conversely, Gojek\u2019s rival Grab also announced that it would invest $150 million into artificial intelligence research to uplift its own application services. As of now, companies are in a rush to build an all-purpose super app to outsmart other contenders in the market. Moreover, Gojek\u2019s president also announced that it is all set to expand into two more countries by offering a dozen more on-demand services, including medicine delivery, house cleaning, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
