Drizly allows one to order alcohol to be delivered to their doorstep. It works a lot like Uber, It provides the technology infrastructure that allows liquor retailers to provide their own on-demand service, as well as an e-commerce platform through Drizly connect. It is a booze delivery startup, the startup has announced the close of a $15 million series B funding round, led by Polaris Partners, also other existing investors.
Drizly users can surf through a wide variety of alcohol that includes beer, wine and other spirits as well as, see various delivery windows and prices from retailers who have partnered with Drizly. The retailers can receive orders and place deliveries with their own employees paying drizly a cut of each transaction.
Customers and retailers can choose a longer delivery window, allowing the delivery to take place within 2 days from when the order has been placed. 40% of the orders have been received by the customers within 36 hours. Drizly currently serves 23 markets and is hoping to be in 30 by the end of 2016. Customers have seen to become more comfortable shopping for alcohol online rather than going to the store.
Including the latest round of financing the total funding comes up to $32.8 million.
